fokhol gård
Welcome to Fokhol Gård
– a sustainable and community-run farm and idyllic guesthouse. We are a dedicated community of young people who have been lovingly caring for and breathing life into this ancient place since 2022. The farm is located in the heart of Hedmark by Mjøsa, Norway’s largest lake. It is a living example of ecologically responsible farming and community engagement.
Our vision for farming follows the principle of regional direct marketing. Not only do we want to share the rich harvest from our organic farming and animal husbandry with our customers in the region, but we also process our products ourselves for our own use and for our visitors. Everyone who visits us as a guest, whether in the guest house or in the farm store, contributes to preserving the diversity of our fields and protecting natural resources.
As a Demeter farm, our farm encompasses a diversity of different areas. Our farm cycle consists of cows, horses and chickens, vegetable and grain production, the guest house with kitchen, and us, a group of 11 adults and 8 children.
A Place of Exchange
Fokhol Gård is not only a place of sustainable cultivation, but also a place of encounter and exchange. Our guest house opens its doors to travelers, seminars and courses. With cozy, rustic rooms overlooking the farm and garden, our guesthouse offers a retreat for those who are looking for peace and quiet but still want to experience the vibrant life on the farm up close.
We work closely with interns, wwoofers and trainees from different countries and thus promote an intercultural agricultural discourse. We pass on our knowledge and experience, as well as the opportunity to experience diverse agriculture and strengthen the importance of sustainable agriculture and hospitality in the future.
We invite you to become part of our sustainable community, whether as a guest discovering our oasis of calm, as a private customer or restaurant strengthening the connection between producer and consumer, or as an intern actively supporting our work. Together, we are shaping a future in which organic hospitality and agriculture is not just a concept, but a living part of our daily lives.
We, who run the farm according to organic and biodynamic guidelines, are a young group of 6 adults and 3 children who live and manage Fokhol together and make it diverse: Just as the farm is very diverse we also have different backgrounds, came with different past experiences and started our work here in February 2022.
